Why Every Christian Should Be Ready for Ramadan

Take advantage of this unique opportunity. Written by  Kevin Greeson  on 21/04/2020 Series:  Weekly Devotional Tags:  Evangelism ,  Gospel ,  Ramadan ,  Muslim ,  Islam ,  Spirituality Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. Colossians 4:5–6 The Ramadan season – from April 23/24 through May 23/24 this year – is fast approaching. This dedicated month is a special time for Muslims around the world to fast (during daylight hours) and pray to their god. During this time, even the most nominal Muslims focus on their spirituality. Missionaries working among Muslims debate whether or not Ramadan is a good or bad time to share the Gospel with Muslims. Some believe Muslims are edgy and non-receptive when fasting, but others point out the benefits of engaging Muslims when their minds are focused on their spirituality.  Why should Christi

He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.’ - You are a delight and a joy to the Lord, your God. - Remember: The Lord your God is with you. - Remind yourself that He is mighty, and He is able to save you. - Rest assured of His great love and care towards you. What is Palm Sunday All About?

Image
Why did Jesus need to enter Jerusalem in the way he did? Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Prophecy, Promises, Resurrection, Faith, Love At first, Jesus' disciples did not understand. But after he had been given his glory, they remembered all this. Everything had happened exactly as the Scriptures said it would. John 12:16 On Palm Sunday you may be given a palm branch. If you’re a new follower of Jesus, this could be a surprise. Even if you’ve been a Christian for a long time, you may not be clear about why we celebrate this day or why it’s called Jesus’ “Triumphal Entry.” Palm Sunday is a breathtaking picture of the patience, the faithfulness and the loving heart of our Savior. Keep reading for the secret of what Palm Sunday is about. Palm Sunday is about timing Many times, people in the Gospels get excited about Jesus: His teaching, (See Mark 1:21-22; John 7:46) His healing, or miracles. (John 2:23-25) Jesus didn’t let these people make Him a king (John 6:15) or arre

Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands.’ - This is a time when we need to help others and hold up their hands. - It is not a time to be selfish and self-centred. - If you see someone who you are able to help, extend a helping hand. - When we help each other, it sets us up for victory and success. PRAYER: Lord, may my life be used by You at this time. May I be someone who lifts the loads that others are carrying and may You send the right person to hold up my arms, I pray. Amen. Have a great week.

Palm Sunday Meaning… God Comes To Us!

Image
He wants you to see Him. Written by Susan on 20/03/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Jesus, Love, Sacrifice Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9 How does the King of the Universe make Himself known? Why He comes... God made a choice to enter our world. He chose a certain time and place to enter humanity. He chose to limit Himself by becoming a helpless child. Think of being able to choose when, where and to whom you would be born. God came into the world to make Himself known to all. God wanted to show His love for us. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus chose to become a limited person so He could relate His love to us. It can be hard for us to understand this. On a donkey... On Palm Sunday Jesus c

Easter Mysteries to Reconsider

Image
The Mystery that Saves Us From Ourselves Written by Susan on 27/03/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Cross, Crucifixion, Easter, Jesus, Resurrection, Salvation For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. I Thessalonians 5:9-10 Easter, an important holiday for Christians, is upon us again. Each year we have the chance to reconsider what it means. Will we ever truly grasp the meaning of Easter? Jesus came to the world to die for us. Why did He have to do that? Why We Need Saving: In Romans 3:10 an Old Testament quote from Psalm 14:1-4 is given to remind us that “no one is righteous, no not one.” Since Jesus is the only person who ever lived a sinless life, He is the only one who is able to perfectly follow God’s will. The rest of us all fall short. Fall short of what? God’s holiness is the standard, so we can do nothing but fall sh

Bring Your light and shine it into the dark and worried parts of my heart, so that I can see Your hope, see Your mercy, and see Your lovingkindness towards me. Amen. Have a wonderful Wednesday. How to Get Jesus’ Resurrection Power

Image
When all hope is lost and you are ready to give up, how can the power of the resurrection help you find hope again? Written by Ruth on 07/04/2020 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Easter, Hope, Victory, Bible, Emmaus What is this conversation that you are holding with each other as you walk? Luke 24:17 When all hope is lost and you are ready to give up, how can the power of the resurrection help you find hope again? When Hope Dies Easter is only a few days away for many of us. Perhaps more than ever before in your life, you might be feeling fear and despair like the disciples did when Jesus was killed. Have you ever felt like all hope is gone and there is nothing that can ever bring it back? Jesus’ disciples despaired of their hope after they watched Him die on the cross. They were fearful. You may be fearful, too, today as you see more trouble around you than you believe you can overcome. But Sunday is coming! Easter, Resurrection Day, is coming — both in the verses we are

Matthew 24:36-44 (Daily Verse

Matthew 24:36-44 (36) "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (37) But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (38) For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, (39) and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (40) Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. (41) Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. (42) Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. (43) But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. (44) Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. New King James Version   Change your email Bibl

(14) It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud; (15) and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. (16) The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” (17) And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.”   Revelation 10:1 (1) I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. What Kind of Work Does God Want You In?

How do we know we are doing the job God has created us to do? Written by  Gary Schneider  on 09/10/2018 Series:  Weekly Devotional Tags:  Career ,  Work ,  Vocation For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10 Given the fact that we belong to God and that life is all about stewarding or managing what God has given us, the question naturally arises in the heart of a Christ-follower: “How do I choose a career that honors God and brings me true fulfillment?” Let’s look at a few key Scripture verses to get started: Ephesians 2:10 :  “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Isaiah 43:6-7 :  “Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” Psalm 139:13-16
