Don’t Keep It To Yourself

Our opening scripture addresses those who win souls to Christ; they’re destined to shine as the brightness of the firmament and stars for ever and ever. This lets you know how important you are to the Lord, if you’re a soul winner. Soul winning is God’s number one job, and as His children, we’re to take the message of salvation to the nations of the world; it’s our mandate: “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). The Gospel is man’s only hope; it’s God’s power to bring men out of sin into righteousness, and out of darkness into His marvellous light. Only through the Gospel can men receive eternal life and become partakers of the divine nature. Through the Gospel, life and immortality have been brought to light (2 Timothy 1:10). Therefore, to know the Gospel; to be saved and then keep it to yourself means you’re not fulfilling the will of God. You must tell others about Christ and the power of His Gospe

What is Heaven Like?

Spending eternity with God will be a celebration! Written by Dan Lee on 26/07/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Heaven, Eternity, Salvation, God On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine — the best of meats and the finest of wines . . . He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; He will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. Isaiah 25:6,8 Have you ever wondered what heaven will be like? Some people think that in Heaven, we are going to be floating around like a ghost. This is not true. Let’s see a few things the Bible says about Heaven: 1. Heaven is a Real Place Revelation 21:1-2 says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husba

Walk In The Word

Walk In The Word For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD (Psalm 33:4-5). We read in our opening verse that the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. To whose advantage do you think that is? It’s the Church’s advantage! What you have to learn is how to walk in the Word to enjoy God’s best—His divine provisions. Everything God created was specially made for your comfort and provision. He’s already given you everything that you require to fulfil your destiny and live triumphantly for His glory (2 Peter 1:3). 1 Corinthians 3:21 says all things are yours. Therefore, you don’t have to suffer or settle for the lesser things in life. The Lord Jesus suffered in your place, to usher you into a life of glory. Hebrews 2:10 says, “For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvatio

You’re His Voice To Your World

Our opening scripture is the Lord’s instruction to everyone who has received Christ; you’re to take the message of salvation to your world. You’re to teach those in your world how to live and walk in righteousness; you’re to teach all nations. What does He mean by “teach all nations?” Though synonymously used, it’s important to note that there’s a difference between nations and countries; countries have borders, but nations don’t. “Nations” in our theme scripture doesn’t mean countries. It derives from the Greek word “Ethnos,” which refers to different groups of people, sharing a common interest. It’s our job to take the Gospel to every man’s world: to the different groups (ethnos) to which we belong. They may be in the world of politicians, doctors, artisans, musicians, academicians, lawyers, police or the armed forces; you’re God’s voice to your world. You’re a missionary, an oracle of God, commissioned to help the unconverted in your world You’re His Voice To Your World Go ye th

Our Responsibility In Divinity

Sometimes, you find Christians who, out of ignorance, always pray and hope that God will do something about their situation. Such people are still functioning in the human nature, instead of the divine nature. The Bible says, “That the communication of thy faith may become effectual….” The word “effectual” is from the Greek, “energēs,” which means “to become active or operative.” God wants your participation in the faith to become active or operative. He wants you functioning or doing your part in divinity. He doesn’t want you lukewarm or inactive like one that’s handicapped, expecting that whatever will be, will be. No, you’re a vital part of divinity. Glory to God! This has been God’s idea all along. Look at the experience of Moses and the children of Israel by the Red Sea. As the chariots of Egypt approached them with deadly intentions, Moses thought to pray to God for help, but God’s response was rather stunning: “And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? spe

There Are Positions Of Prayer

Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving (Colossians 4:2). Did you know that there’re positions of prayer, and that the different positions you assume when you pray are important? For example, lying on your bed to pray is one of the positions of prayer. When you lie on your bed to pray, it’s meditative. You’re likely going to start out praying in tongues, because there’s a lot that can come through your spirit, such as worship; you find that you’re worshipping and praising the Lord upon your bed, like the Bible says, “Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds” (Psalm 149:5). You can really be stirred on your bed as you pray like that, with the anointing welling up and overwhelming you. Before long, you might soon bounce off the bed and start pacing the floor. Then, there’s kneeling down to pray. When you want to pray on your knees, it’s important that you’re specific and clear as to the things you want to pray about. I

So, why is forgiveness – like Wanda showed her father – so important?

Forgiveness is the work of the courageous. There are many – from all walks of life – who testify to that and who state the importance of practicing it in our lives: “For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” – Jesus (Matthew 6:14) “We must learn to forgive.” – Mother Theresa “When you haven’t forgiven those who’ve hurt you, you turn your back against the future. When you do forgive, you start walking forward.” – Tyler Perry “Forgiveness is God’s command.” – Martin Luther “Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.” – Oscar Wilde So, why is forgiveness – like Wanda showed her father – so important? Dr. Tabor Shares Three Reasons We Should Forgive 1. We are told to forgive. – As is mentioned above, Jesus tells us to forgive others. Peter asked Jesus how many times we were required to forgive – seven? That might seem like a strange number, but, in Peter’s time, the religious leaders said you only had to fo

The Bible Describes Heaven as a Real Place

The Bible Describes Heaven as a Real Place What does the Bible say about heaven? Written by Lois on 19/07/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Jesus, Grace, Sin, Heaven, Forgiveness Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed steadily into Heaven and saw the glory of God, and he saw Jesus standing in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Acts 7:55 (NLT) Will good works, traditions or experiences get you to heaven? Some prophets and disciples were given a glimpse of Heaven or were taken up into Heaven. Stephen, a first-century Christian, was stoned to death because of his faith. Before his death, Stephen asked the Lord to forgive those throwing the stones. His final words were “…Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!” (Acts 7:59). So, is Heaven an experience or a real place? What does the Bible say about heaven? Here are just three times that the Bible mentions the reality of Heaven: 1. Elijah Was Taken to Heaven Elijah the prophet did not experience death; His disciple Elisha witne

The Word Perfects Us

how to make ourlives balanced and perfect: it’s with the Word of God. The King James uses the word “perfect,” rendered “artios” in Greek, which means “a freshness in completeness.” In today’s language, it means to be “up-to-date” or “updated.” So, the Scriptures are there for you to “update” and upgrade your life unto perfection. Anyone would be making a big mistake to think they can live a glorious life, devoid of errors, if they ignored the Scriptures. If you want to live in the perfect will of God, pleasing Him in all things, living the Word is the only way. The Word is given to us to guide us, correct us, build and shape our character in righteousness and true holiness. If you’re not following the Scriptures properly, you’ll make king-sized errors—embarrassing but avoidable mistakes. Jesus said in Matthew 22:29 NIV, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” The more you study All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable

Maintain The Drive

God may give you a vision or direction on something and you may not follow it,,because there’s no drive from within. If the drive isn’t there to fulfil the vision, you’ll not fulfil it. In fact, the vision could be on your conscience for some time until you harden your conscience against it. You’re aware the Spirit of God told you to do something, but you didn’t do it; one year has passed, and it’s not like you’re about to do it. Presently, the opportunity to do it has even become hazy, yet you’re not sure how to go about it anymore. This is what happens with many people. When the timing for the vision came, different things came up and they got distracted; as a result, they missed it. Such people are like Peter, who stepped on the water to walk to Jesus, but when he took his eyes off the Master, the waves got his attention, and he began to sink. Never allow anything distract or delay you from doing whatever the Lord tells you to do. Whatever He tells you to do or whatever guidance

Endless Prosperity

There’re people who, at a certain time, were doing very well in life; everything looked okay with them. But somewhere along the line, they lost everything they had acquired, not because somebody stole from them, but what they possessed suddenly became too small; the society grew bigger than them. Suddenly, the money they had, which used to be substantial, became paltry. Their vehicles became too old, and outdated. Their lives took a downward slide; everything simply changed. What could have happened? They had thought their lives would be beautiful all the way, but no; things turned sour, and they couldn’t believe it. Some of them have come to even accept that life is that way; “it’s full of ups and downs,” they say. But they’re wrong! Jesus said, “...I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain...” (John 15:16). That means endless prosperity; your success shouldn’t be short-lived. Think about David: t

Is Hell Real, and Is There a Way Out?

Hell has no exit door. Written by Lois on 12/07/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Hell, Heaven, Salvation, Jesus, Christ No one can live forever, all will die. No one can escape the power of the grave. Psalm 89:48 Is Hell real? The Bible tells us about two places, Heaven and Hell. Spending eternity in Heaven or Hell is our choice. (Revelation 22:17) Hell does not have an exit door, and is the destiny of everyone who is without God (2 Thessalonians 1:8-10). Only Jesus can save us from that destiny. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). So what is Hell? Here are the three things that you need to know about what the Bible says about Hell... 1. What’s the reason that reason God made Hell? You Don’t Need To Ask Him

More often than not, people think the purpose for prayer is asking God for things. Prayer isn’t about asking God for things. It’s just that the word, “Prayer” is a generic word, but many only look at one of its synonyms, which is to ask or make requests; but there’s more to prayer than making requests and entreaties. The higher purposes of prayer have nothing to do with asking for things. Due to the misconception of the purposes of prayer, when some Christians read our opening scripture above, the next thing that comes to their minds is making requests of God. But that scripture needs to be well understood. Jesus didn’t say, “What things soever ye ask for, when ye pray…”; He said, “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray….” He didn’t say you should ask! This means, when you’re praying, whether in praise or in worship, and you have a desire, just believe that that desire has been granted you. You don’t need to ask Him! The Bible says, “…for your Father knoweth wha

Acknowledge That You’re Special

There’re people who like to tell us that we’re not very special. Even sometimes in the church, there’re those who, when they’re called to give a testimony, would say, “God did such-and-such for me, not because I’m special.” But you’re special. People make such statements out of ignorance, and a seeming show of humility. You’re peculiar. You’re special to God. You’re His pearl of inestimable value. It’s not pride to acknowledge and affirm that you’re special. Remember, God gave birth to you. James 1:18 says, “Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.” It’s absolutely impossible for God to give birth to “nonentities” or “unworthy servants” that some Christians unwittingly arrogate to themselves, because He reproduces after His own kind. You’re the crown of God’s creation, the best of all that He made. Our opening Scripture says the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking goodly pearls, who, when

Call To Divine Fellowship

I’m lifted and transported by the Holy Ghost into the glorious and higher realms of life, where I only see and relate with the realities of your Kingdom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen. Through the Spirit, you’ve been immersed into Christ, literally joined with Him as one divine creation. You ought to enjoy that fellowship every day; it’s not something you go into and come out of, for you’re in Him, and He’s in you. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creation….” Colossians 1:27 says, “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.” So, just like Jesus, you’re in Him, and He’s in you. No wonder He says greater is He that’s in you than he

The World Is Yours

Therefore, let no man glory in men. For all things are yours (1 Corinthians 3:21). Being born again, there’s a high calling upon your life. Therefore, refuse to allow your virtual circumstances make you think differently. Jesus said you’re not of this world (John 15:19). He chose you out of the masses; out of the world; you’re of a different breed. You’re an heir of God, and a joint heir with Christ, which simply means, you own the world. The Bible says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1). However, God willed the whole world to Abraham through the covenant He made with him and his seed. Galatians 3:16 says, “…to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” Therefore, God was looking beyond Abraham’s physical descendant; He was looking at Christ. Galatians 3:29 says, “…if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s

As a Christian, your life is preordained by God

As a Christian, your life is preordained by God; predestination is at work in you. Nothing happens to you by chance, neither is your life by chance. You’re responsible for the outcome of your life. He gave you authority in His Name. This lets you know that nothing can limit you. Your age, the economy of the nation where you live, the colour of your skin, your family, educational and financial background, shouldn’t be a limitation. Nothing and no one can place a limit on you. This is God’s blessing for every one of His children, and He gave you the Holy Spirit, to be your sufficiency. With Him, you can be anything, do anything, go anywhere, and be all that God destined you to be. You don’t have to struggle to be a success, because you function with His ability and wisdom. He’s your wisdom (1 Corinthians 1:30). What you have to understand is how to walk with Him, and function in His wisdom, beyond your human ability. God’s wisdom in you is a force that causes you to wa
