Thought for Today: Exercise Dominion by Refusing to Doubt
“And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water; to go to see Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore, didst thou doubt?…(Matthew 14:29-31).”
When Peter considered the raging winds (which were his present circumstances at that time), he became overwhelmed and immediately began to sink. The water which had held him up, suddenly gave way beneath his feet. As the Master reached out to grab Peter, he asked “Why did you doubt?” You see, it was doubt that deactivated the power of the Word “Come” which Jesus had spoken to him. If Peter had not doubted, the water would have held him up as perfectly as it held up Jesus.
As we approach the end of the month, we will be sharing with you on this blog certain things you should do to continue to ensure that you experience dominion throughout August. Firstly, you must give no place to doubt. Do not allow it to creep into your heart and keep you from experiencing dominion as the Spirit of God had declared concerning us. Doubt breeds fear, and fear is of the devil. Thus, you must not accommodate doubt, fear or unbelief in your heart. Doubt has robbed many of the opportunity to function at the level God has called them into.
To eliminate doubt, build absolute confidence in the Word of God, for it never fails. Learn to keep your attention fully on what the Word of God says. That way, you’ll never be overwhelmed by the circumstances of your life. Rather, you’ll experience that the same situations that challenge others will be your platform for victories as you exercise dominion. God’s Word is trustworthy and dependable, so believe it with all your heart and refuse to doubt. It’s still your month to exercise dominion. Glory to God!
