Count The Cost Very Carefully!

Jesus warned those who wanted to follow Him, to count the cost of discipleship very careful. They would have to be prpared to offer him complete allegiance and to live a life characterised by self-sacrifice.This cautionary note still applies.

Life has become much more complicated since the days of Jesus. We have to make important decisions almost every day and we often have to plan far ahead. It is vital that we learn to make wish decisions, that we learn to count the cost carefully. Some of us marry unwisely. We are surprise to learn that in some cultures marriages are still arranged by the family or the community. Yet if these people genuinely have their children's welfare at heart, their decisions may be quite sound.

Falling in love should not be the only reason for getting married. We must consider everything that will affect our degree of compatibility. We must count the cost of our decisions carefully.Some of us make unwise financial decisions. Everyone has suffered at one time or another because of unwise decisions.

Let us learn from our mistakes and make sure that we draw up a detailed list of pros and cons before we make our next important decision. A well informed decision will bring happiness and peace of mind.   REMEMBER: always count the cost carefully.

The Bible offers a balanced approach to setting goals that includes making plans yet doing so with wisdom and humility. Jesus’ illustration of building a tower implies that it is a good thing to have set goals ( Luke 14:28 ).
