Verse:    Luke 7:14 'Young man,’ HE said, ‘I tell you, get up.’ - The Lord can bring life into hopeless and desperate situations. - He can breathe new life into your heart and soul. - Perhaps circumstances, or the challenges of this year, have brought you down. - It is time to get up, pick up the pieces, and receive His faithfulness towards you. PRAYER:  Lord, with Your help and Your strength, I will arise and I will walk in the light of Your favour and blessing. Breathe new life into me, I pray, and may I know that You are with me and I will step forward with confidence in You. Amen. Have an awesome Thursday.

What does it mean that greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world (1 John 4:4)?

In writing to his “dear children” in the Lord, the   apostle John   tells them that “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” ( 1 John 4:4 ). The contrast here is between the Spirit of Christ and the spirit of antichrist; in short, God is greater than Satan. First John 4  begins with an exhortation for believers to test the spirits of prophets or teachers: “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” ( 1 John 4:1 ). What a prophet or teacher proclaims reveals whether he is of God or a false prophet of the world. John tells us how to recognize a  false prophet : “Every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist” (verse 3). Anyone who teaches or proclaims falsehood about Jesus, such as denying His divinity, is a false prophet. These false prophets are actually speaking in the spirit of the ...

Verse:    Luke 7:13 'When the Lord saw her, His heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” He said.’ - One of the wonderful attributes of the Lord is His great compassion. - Compassion is the ability to share another person’s struggle. - However, compassion is also linked to an urgent desire to help. - The Lord knows what you are going through, and He will step in and help. PRAYER:  Lord, thank You that You can see what is happening in, and with me. Your compassion is overflowing towards me, and Your help will be dispensed to me. Amen. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Verse:    Luke 5:13 'Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man.’ - The Lord is willing and able to reach out and touch you. - Do you need His touch today, are you longing for His touch? - Our condition does not stop the Lord from reaching out to take hold of us. - We may think that we do not deserve it, but He wants to touch and heal us. PRAYER:  Lord, thank You for Your great willingness to touch and change my life. Thank You that as I come to You, You are ready and willing to receive me. You extend Your hand to touch and restore me now. Amen. Have a blessed Tuesday.

Do all roads lead to God?

If Bethel, a remote city on the western coast of Alaska, is your destination, you will arrive via boat along the Kuskokwim River or arrive by air. Travelers and tourists will note there are no roads leading to Bethel—except one. Each January, tourists and locals cheer on their favorite mushers at the Kuskokwin 300 Sled Dog Race—a nineteen-hour, three-hundred-mile race from Bethel to Aniak and back. It is that snow-packed path used by dog sleds that is the only road to Bethel. To declare that all roads lead to Bethel would be to speak a lie, for the only road leading there begins at Aniak and is identifiable by crisscrossing sled tracks and a preponderance of packed snow. Long ago, Satan whispered, “All roads lead to God,” and many people have since accepted this lie as truth. All roads do not lead to God. Jesus said, “I am  the way, and the truth, and the life ; no one comes to the Father but through Me” ( John 14:6, NASB ). Jesus did not say, “I am  a  way.” We do...

Verse:    2 Chronicles 20:15 This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God's.’ - When we are facing challenges and insecurity, we can get discouraged. - Discouragement robs us of our joy and of our peace. - Today, the Lord wants to say to you: ‘Do not be discouraged!’ - The Lord will fight for you, because He loves and cares for you. PRAYER:  Lord, thank You for the strength, joy and peace You bring into my life. I will not allow a spirit of discouragement to torment me, because You have told me not to fear or be discouraged. Amen. Have an awesome Thursday.

"What does the Bible say about thankfulness/gratitude?"

Image
Thankfulness is a prominent Bible theme. First Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” Did you catch that? Give thanks in  all  circumstances. Thankfulness should be a way of life for us, naturally flowing from our hearts and mouths. Digging into the Scriptures a little more deeply, we understand why we should be thankful and also how to have gratitude in different circumstances. Psalm 136:1 says, “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever.” Here we have two reasons to be thankful: God’s constant goodness and His steadfast love. When we recognize the nature of our depravity and understand that, apart from God, there is only death (John 10:10; Romans 7:5), our natural response is to be grateful for the life He gives. Psalm 30 gives praise to God for His deliverance. David writes, “I will exalt you, O Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths...
