How to Heal Addiction

Hope for the Hurting and Trapped Written by Dan Lee on 29/11/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Temptation, Addiction, Sin I have the right to do anything,” you say — but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything” — but I will not be mastered by anything. 1 Corinthians 6:12 Addiction is a loaded word with many meanings. We tend to think of it as extreme, however, anyone can suffer from addiction, and it’s far more common than you think. The World Health Organization tells us that worldwide, 6 million people die every year due to tobacco use, and 3.3 million die due to alcohol related causes. Alcohol, drugs, and smoking have caused much misery for years. But now, we can add pornography, TV binge-watching, overeating, shopping, and video games. For instance, one woman in New Mexico, USA, was spending over 12 hours a day playing a multiplayer video game — and let her 3-year-old daughter starve to death. Clearly, our world needs to healed from addiction.

10 KEYS - WHAT DO YOU SEE ?

LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF JOHN 8:38 "I speak that which I have seen with my father : and ye do that which ye have seen with your father" 10 KEYS - WHAT DO YOU SEE ? 1.If you fail to speak what you see by faith , you will always fail to receive , what the lord has prepared for you by faith . 2 Cor 4:13 (NIV)"It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak," 2.What you see becomes spiritual reality , when you speak it . Gen 1:2 (NIV) " And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light." 3.Never speak what the enemy is showing you .Prov 31:32."If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth." Is a trap. 4.Never believe the thoughts from the enemy. lest you begin to speak what he is showing you. Prov 4:23 (NIV)"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything

The Problem of Evil and Suffering

To many, the most powerful positive objection to belief in God is the fact of evil. Written by Luis Palau Tags: Evil, Hope, Hurt, Jesus, Pain, Suffering When asked what questions they would like to ask God if given the opportunity, forty-four percent of Americans said they want to know, "Why is there evil or suffering in the world?" John Hick noted, "To many, the most powerful positive objection to belief in God is the fact of evil." Peter Kreeft agrees, saying, "The strongest argument for atheism has always been the problem of evil." That’s been the case the past twenty-five hundred years, since the days of Buddha’s "enlightenment." The ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus (342?-270 B.C.) stated the problem in four parts: "God either wishes to take away evil, and is unable, or He is able, and unwilling; or He is neither willing nor able, or He is both willing and able. If He is willing and is unable, He is feeble, which is not in acco

God’s Forgiveness of Your Sin

Sin ruins your life – Who is powerful enough to forgive and renew you? Written by Hope on 11/10/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Creation, Forgiveness, Power, Sin God, who raises the dead to life and creates new things... Romans 4:17b It’s no secret that we live in a fallen world of sin. From infidelity in relationships, to cheating, to lying, to stealing, sin is everywhere! This sin ruins our life and tears us down. However, though we live in a world of sin, God is powerful enough to forgive us! But why would he forgive us? And how does he do it? Here are the three pillars to understand about God’s forgiveness of your sins. God Is The Omnipotent Creator The Bible teaches us that with His wisdom and power He created the earth and spread out the heavens (Jeremiah 10:12). The prophets praised Him: God said “I am Powerful” (Psalm 62:11) and “Lord God, you stretched out your mighty arm and made the sky and the earth. You can do anything” (Jeremiah 32:17). The Lord says of

What is God’s Blessing?

What does Jesus say about being blessed? Written by Joy on 29/08/2015 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Blessings, Favor, Jesus, Money, Wealth “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God…..” Matthew 5:3-12 To be blessed by God means having God’s favor and goodness. We often think of blessings as riches, high position, health, and happiness. However, Jesus’ famous words about blessings show us that God has a different definition of being blessed. Who is Blessed? Jesus’ list of blessed people in Matthew 5 include the needy, sad, meek, and persecuted. This might offend us since we value

Why Suicide is Not an Option

Why suicide is the ultimate denial to God Written by GodLife on 16/08/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Betrayal, Depression, Failure, Hope, Purpose, Suicide Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself. Matthew 27:5 Life can sometimes feel hopeless. Maybe you are going through the death of a loved one, a permanent disability, failure or betrayal. You’re not alone. Do not choose Judas’ path of ending his own life with suicide. Instead, read on to see how some of God’s people have responded to these feelings rather than suicide: 1.Betrayal: David David, the “man after God’s own heart,” was running away from King Saul, whom he had served. He fled to Israel’s enemies and they betrayed him, taking his family captive. Even David’s trusted followers began to turn on him: “David, too, was in anguish. Some of his men talked about stoning him because they were so bitter about their families being taken.” Who else was left at this point? “B

CHICKEN CACCIATORE

Easy to make and loved by the entire family…..cacciatore aromas fill your kitchen — no — your whole house…..with comfort and warmth as it looks after itself on the stove or in the oven!  Cacciatore means hunter in Italian, and alla cacciatora translates to a  ‘hunter-style’ meal with chicken (or rabbit), onions, tomatoes, herbs, vegetables, and usually wine or vinegar. This is one of those recipes I found years ago in an old, tattered Italian cookbook, and every time I’d remake it through the years, I’d change something or adjust the cooking, which eventually brought me to this recipe. One I love and make time and time again. Keep it low carb and serve over cauliflower rice or vegetables. OR carb load it with pasta or rice! If there are any leftovers, the flavours are even better the next day! Or you can freeze it for another night. CHICKEN CACCIATORE Slow cooked Chicken Cacciatore, with chicken falling off the bone in a rich and rustic sauce is simple Italian

Whatever your circumstances, be thankful that God loves you.

How to Thank God for His Wonderful Plan Whatever your circumstances, be thankful that God loves you. Written by GodLife on 22/11/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Jesus, Love, Thankfulness, God Whatever happens, keep thanking God because of Jesus Christ. This is what God wants you to do. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 God created us in an awe-inspiring, magnificent world. He made sure we would not be alone, but have relationships with others. He made us able to appreciate the wisdom of His creation. The melody, texture, fragrance, flavor and spectacle of it impresses each of us. Our rebellion against His love gave Him the supreme opportunity to express it to us in a way we could understand. He did this by entering our world, wearing our flesh and bearing our curse. He has every right to complain: “They know about God, but they don’t honor him or even thank him.” (Romans 1:21) Instead, to those “…that refused to worship me, I said, ‘Here I am!’ All day long I have reached out to stubb

Know God

God Loves You! The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" The problem is that... All of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God. The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death." The good news is that, about 2,000 years ago, God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. "God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if w

Care for People All Around You

The book of Ruth in the Old Testament tells a beautiful story about love and loyalty among family. Written by Hope on 28/04/2013 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: God, Love, Loyalty, Relationships "And may the Lord make your love for one another and for all people grow and overflow, just as our love for you overflows." (1 Thessalonians 3:12) The book of Ruth in the Old Testament tells a beautiful story about love and loyalty among family. Naomi, an Israelite, had traveled with her husband and sons to the foreign land of Moab to escape a famine. Her sons married local women, one of them being Ruth. When the husband and the sons died, Naomi chose to return to Israel and her people. Love Each Other Naomi and her daughters-in-law loved each other dearly. Wanting them to be provided for, Naomi urged them to remain in Moab to remarry. However, Ruth chose to stay with Naomi, dedicated to serving her mother-in-law -- and God. She demonstrated a love and loyalty the Apostles

Day 11: Loving Others

Image
“Abound in love to one another” (1 Thessalonians 3:12) God’s second great commandment is, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39). (The first commandment is to love God – heart, mind, soul and strength.) I find that loving others can be a difficult assignment, especially when the “others” have treated me badly—for example, those to whom I have loaned money and who have neither repaid the loan, nor have made any attempt to do so. You could be facing a far more difficult situation, such as an unfaithful marriage partner or an abusive parent. Loving such people may seem impossible.. There are two keys to our successfully loving others. First, loving others is a requirement, not an option. We may not feel like loving someone who has deeply offended us. But God requires us to decide to forgive and love that person in spite of the offense. In my experience, feelings will eventually follow. But the starting point is always a decision—to forgive and to love. Sec

How to Love Your Enemies and Pray for Them

God’s love is hard to understand Written by Lois on 26/04/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Enemies, Forgiveness, God, Love, Mercy …may you, having been deeply rooted and securely grounded in love, be fully capable of comprehending…the width and length and height and depth of the love of Christ, fully experiencing that amazing, endless love… Ephesians 3:17-19 AMP The love of Christ is so great it can even save His enemies. God’s love reaches out to the whole world and continues through the entire length of our lives. His love is so deep, it can reach you in discouragement and depression. He even reached Lazarus after he had been in His grave four days. This is the Savior’s love. God is Love The Bible tells us that if a person knows nothing about love, they can’t know God, because God is love. Jesus displayed His love for His enemies as He was dying. While Jesus was on the cross, He was praying for those who placed the nails in His hands and feet. Is there anyone else who

3 Reasons to Love Your Enemies

3 Reasons to Love Your Enemies Why You Should NOT Take Revenge Written by Dan Lee on 03/05/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Enemies, Forgiveness, God, Love, Mercy Don’t be afraid of those who want to kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28 Last week we saw that Jesus demonstrated how to love and forgive our enemies. Here are three more reasons we should love our enemies: Vengeance is God’s Business Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. (Romans 12:19) When we have been hurt by someone, we naturally want to hurt them back. But God says to let Him take care of it. First of all, He knows, much better than we do, what someone did wrong and what he or she deserves. He is totally just, and his judgments and decisions are 100% correct. When imperfect humans try to take revenge

Loving Others Loving the unlovable demonstrates God’s love for us. Written by Dan Lee on 15/11/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Love, Enemies, Humility, Pride If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. Matthew 5:46 We are surrounded by all kinds of people. Some are easy to love. Others, we tend to ignore. Then there are some that act in ways that makes us want to hate them. Here are three kinds of people we might tend to look down on, or even hate — and what God’s Word says about them: 1. “Servers” People of many cultures look down on waiters, clerks, or manual laborers. We act as though they exist only to meet our needs and pay no attention to their feelings. But Peter says in his letter, “And all of you, serve each other in humility, for ‘God opposes the proud but favors the humble.’” (1 Peter 5:5) God’s love means having a humble heart for others. 2. “Sinners” Jesus told a story about two peo

How to Listen for God’s Guidance

What are some ways God guides us in His will? Written by Hope on 02/05/2015 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Bible, Prayer, Wisdom “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105 All people long for direction and purpose in life. As Christians, we can ask the Lord to guide us; we do not have to live without purpose. What are some ways God guides us in His will? How should we be listening for His leading? Get Quiet with God and Examine Your Desires Hearing God’s guidance begins with our minds and hearts. The Bible reminds us to “be still” (Psalm 46:10) as we listen for His leading, and to “be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). The Scriptures are full of prayers you can use to ask God to focus on Him, such as: “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts!” (Psalm 139:23). Genuinely seek the Lord and “ask our generous God” (James 1:5) to put your thoughts in line with His desires for you. Ask Yourself: Would Jesus

So let’s look into God’s Word to find out some things about the Holy Spirit, and why this is such an important subject: WHO is the Holy Spirit? He is the Spirit of God and of Jesus Himself (Romans 8:9). John 16:13 says, “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth...” WHAT does the Holy Spirit do? The Holy Spirit comforts us (John 14:16); prays for us (Romans 8:26); and guides us to the truth (John 16:13). These are just a few things the Holy Spirit does for us. WHERE is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is everywhere (Psalm 139:7-8), yet lives right inside of us. “Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you

True or False? German Scientists Finally Prove That There Is Life After Death.

A team of psychologists and medical doctors associated with the Technische Universität of Berlin, have announced this morning that they had proven by clinical experimentation, the existence of some form of life after death. This astonishing announcement is based on the conclusions of a study using a new type of medically supervised near-death experiences, that allow patients to be clinically dead for almost 20 minutes before being brought back to life. This controversial process that was repeated on 944 volunteers over that last four years, necessitates a complex mixture of drugs including epinephrine and dimethyltryptamine, destined to allow the body to survive the state of clinical death and the reanimation process without damage. The body of the subject was then put into a temporary comatic state induced by a mixture of other drugs which had to be filtered by ozone from his blood during the reanimation process 18 minutes later. The extremely long duration of the experience was o
