Idolatry In Relationships

Scripture: “Even after Paul and Barnabas had said all this, they could hardly keep the people from offering a sacrifice to them. Some Jewish leaders from Antioch and Iconium came and turned the crowds against Paul. They hit him with stones and dragged him out of the city, thinking he was dead.”  (Acts 14:18-19) Seeing a miracle, the people of one town assumed Paul was a pagan god. They started to worship him. But they were just as quickly persuaded to try to kill him. How could someone jump so quickly from love to hatred? When you make a person an idol, you cannot really love them, for you’re seeking something from them that they are unable to give you. The same way an idol is chiseled from stone, you “chip away” at someone who fails to please you. This causes you both great harm. The person believes you love them. But when you try to make them fit your idolatrous heart, your words and acts cut them deeply. Is there someone in your life who is feeling pain because of your idola

10 KEYS ABOUT THE POWER OF HOPE

LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF ROMANS 8:25 "But if we hope for that we see not , then do we with patience wait for it .” 10 KEYS ABOUT THE POWER OF HOPE 1. Good news- IF God is the source of your hope, then your hope for a change can never be in vain . Amen. Roms 15:13 " Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Key - Hope is what fuels your faith and builds up your expectations . 2. God is the source of patience. There is no other way to your miracle if you re not patient in the midst of your storm. Hope is what helps you to become patient . Why? you believe it is going to turn by faith . Roms 15:5 "Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:” 3. Because God is the source of hope , then your case cannot be hopeless. Key? Hope is a spirit and as long as God the source of your hope lives in you , then I wou

The Idolatry of Control There’s only one God -- and it’s not you! Written by Dan Lee on 27/09/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: God, Control, Sovereignty We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9 We might not think of Control as an idol. Yet anything that we come to value more than God, is an idol. And as humans, we love to feel like we are in control of our own life, our destiny. We believe we have control over our health, our job, our finances, and our relationships. However, that’s not the case. There is only one Sovereign, one Master of the Universe, and it is God, not us. Here are just three important things that we cannot control ourselves, but God does: 1. How long we will live We can take care of our bodies with proper diet and exercise. We’re told that this will allow us a long, healthy and full life. But how long will we really live? That’s up to God. There are no guarantees no matter how hard we try. Psalm 139:16 puts it p

Thank you for your grace and kindness

"No One": For those of you who don't know, my youngest son, Christopher, is on the autistic spectrum. I went to his back to school night on Thursday and took a picture of one of his projects displayed on the wall, one of many cute little cards that all the kids in his class had filled out. It asked him to list his favorite foods, sport, TV shows etc. I took the picture hurriedly, and didn't notice all the answers he had filled out at that time. It was only after I got home that something stood out upon closer review. Do you guys remember, a couple of weeks ago, the massive amount of press that the Florida State Football player got when he sat down at the lunch table with an autistic boy that was eating alone? That player didn't know the boy was on the autistic spectrum when he sat down with him...he just saw a boy eating lunch all by himself and decided to join him. A teacher snapped a picture of the moment and it went viral. That's what made the story grea

A Strong Desire For The Word

But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever Amen (2 Peter 3:18).  As a child of God, you must relish the Word of God; you must enjoy the Word. Your most exciting times should be when you’re in fellowship with the Word. God’s Word is everything; it’s what you need to be all that God has destined you to be in life. Having come to Christ, you must have a strong desire to grow in your spirit. Just like a new-born baby is fed with natural food to enhance its growth and wellbeing, so also does God expect the one who’s born again to feed, and keep feeding, on the Word. We’re born of the Word: “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever” (1 Peter 1:23). And then 1 Peter 2:2 says, “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.” Nothing else will make you grow spiritually, except the Word. God’s

Hold Fast Till He Comes….

But that which ye have already hold fast till I come (Revelation 2:25). The Lord won’t ask you to hold fast to that which you’ve received if there wasn’t the possibility of losing it. For instance, people lose their healing; they receive healing from God and after sometime, maybe due to carelessness or not walking in the Word, they lose the healing. So, as a Christian, it’s important you stay in the Word. The Word of God is your life, and every day presents opportunities for you to live-out the Word; to keep the faith and maintain your confession of who Jesus is and all He means to you. Nothing should ever make you take your gaze and focus off the Master; He’s all that truly matters. Protect your love for Him, and your passion for the Gospel. Love the Lord selflessly, with an undying passion. Refuse to allow anger or bitterness douse your zeal, fervency, and effectiveness in ministering to others. Hebrews 12:15 says, “Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grac

The Madrid-based founder of beBee believes too many people are thinking too hard about finding contacts that do the same job as them, when actually the best business contacts can come about through shared interests. BeBee’s focus is to reach out to people who share the same hobby or passion and might also want to do business together further down the line. Within its first year of launch, it claims to have attracted 11 million users, mostly in Spain and Latin America. Discussions are ongoing over launching the service in the UK. “Whenever you meet a business contact there may be some chat about work and your industry but the main topics of conversation will be what your interests are and what you have in common,” explains Imaz. BeBee’s focus is to reach out to people who share the same hobby or passion The idea, he adds, is that people “form groups, or h

No Condemnation…No Death

Image
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1). Nobody will go to hell today or be condemned because of sin, for Jesus was already condemned for our sins; He paid the full penalty for sin. Therefore, the primary reason people will go to hell is unbelief; it’s for not believing and accepting God’s testimony of His Son. It’s for rejecting God’s love which He demonstrated in the sacrifice of His Son, for the propitiation of our sins. The Bible says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). To reject His love is to embrace eternal condemnation. When you love the Lord with all your heart, you’re free from any form of condemnation. And that love has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost (Romans 5:5), such that not only are we able to love the Lord, we a

LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF ISAIAH 14:24

10 KEYS - WILL IT COME TO PASS ? LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF ISAIAH 14:24 "The Lord of host hath sworn, saying ,surely as I have thought , so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed so shall it stand." 10 KEYS - WILL IT COME TO  PASS ? 1.Is your level of persuasion, your faith in "the word of God" , that will give birth to his promise in your life . Bible says in scripture, Abraham was fully persuaded about God. Roms 4:21 " And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform." What gives birth to the promise (your expectations) , is your level of persuasion ; it goes beyond just believing . Are you fully persuaded? It 's an inner conviction in your spirit. 2. Believing that God's word will come to pass; to tell you the truth friend, is up to you, not God . why? scripture says in Hebrew 4:2 " For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not

We Reign And Rule In His Name

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (Matthew 28:18-19). In our opening scripture, Jesus said, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” The word “power” here is the Greek “exousia”; it means authority. “All power,” not “some power,” has been given to Jesus, in heaven and in earth. The Bible says in Colossians 2:15, “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” When Jesus died, He didn’t ascend to heaven immediately; He had been made sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21), and had to go to hell on behalf of all men. When He got to hell, there was an actual combat between Jesus and the forces of darkness. The Bible says “...the hostile princes and rulers He shook off from Himself, and boldly displayed them as His conquests…” (Co

Wounds are Better Than Kisses?

Worldly pleasures leave a bitter aftertaste Written by GodLife on 20/09/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Comfort, Satisfaction, Trouble, Idolatry, Idol Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy. Proverbs 27:6 We all seek happiness in life, and we often look for the answer in worldly things like making lots of money, getting a great job, or even finding the perfect significant other. Can you relate? Though the world makes us believe these things will satisfy us, true comfort and happiness do not come from worldly things. Rather, happiness comes from God, and the Bible shows us this over and over again. Let’s be reminded of Esau, the firstborn and favorite son of Abraham’s son, Isaac. In Genesis 25 and 27, it tells how he lost his birthright and blessing. Esau ignored what was important to his father. His life shows what can happen to “those who look to this world for their reward.” (Ps. 17:14) Expect trouble from the world (John 16:33), even pe

Be Christ-inside Minded

…for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (2 Corinthians 6:16).  God lives in you. You have to become conscious of this. You’re the temple of the living God; He’s made His home in you now. He no longer dwells in earthly tabernacles. The day Jesus was crucified was the day God left earthly temples. While Jesus was on the cross, the Bible says there was darkness in the earth for three hours. The rocks began to split; the earth began to quake. The presence of God had been in the Holy of Holies, separated from the Holy Place with a thick curtain. But when Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished,” that thick curtain was cut from the top to the bottom, and the Holy of Holies was opened, and the presence of God departed from that temple. This symbolizes that the most Holy Place is open to everybody. Before then, only the High Priest could go into that most Holy

The Final Scene As Written In The Book Of Revelation! (Way Exciting Enough To Witness)

A New Heaven and a New Earth (Revelation 21:1-8) Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, a for the first heaven and earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying: “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will live with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.” And the One seated on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” Then He said, “Write this down, for these words are faithful and true.” And He told me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give freely from the spring of the water of life. The one who is victorious will inherit all things, and I w

Every time you speak, you shape your life and future;

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith (Mark 11:23).  Every time you speak, you shape your life and future; you chart your course in life. You’re today the result of your mouth-work. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue...,” which means with your mouth, you can choose which would be your lot—death or life. So, you can see that you’re responsible for your life, because what you say is what you get. The Lord Jesus said, “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned” (Matthew 12:37). Notice that He didn’t say, “By the words of your parents, friends, or teachers in school, thou shall be justified or condemned,” no; it’s going to be by the words that come out of your own mouth. So, it’s

He’s Counting On You

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek (Romans 1:16) As Christians, we’ve received the mandate to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth; it’s a most sublime and high calling. It’s something you’re to do with all boldness, faith, courage, and conviction. You must never be ashamed or apologetic about Christ and the message of the Gospel. Don’t be ashamed of who you are in Him, and don’t let others make you ashamed of what you believe. Paul said, “…I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth…” (Romans 1:16). It’s only the Gospel that can catapult the sinner to salvation and righteousness. It’s only through the preaching of the Gospel that the righteousness of God can be unveiled and embraced. So, there’re no options to the Gospel. Its power and efficacy are incontrovertible; it’s the

Discover His Plan For You

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). God has a plan for your life; a destiny that He created you to fulfil. Some people aren’t aware of this and as a result, they live empty lives. Some others don’t believe that God could have a plan for them; but why wouldn’t He? He created you! Discover His plan for you and walk in the light of it. God’s Spirit is in you, to build, strengthen, and guide you in the path of your divine destiny. Yield yourself to Him and let Him carry out His ministry in your life. You can’t do it on your own; you need Him to help you. Jesus said in John 16:13, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” The Holy Spirit knows your future and everything about your life, and it’s His de

10 SECRETS ABOUT THE LEPER

LIFE LESSONS FROM THE BOOK OF MARK 1:40-42 (Amp) " And a leper came to Him, begging Him and falling on his knees before Him, saying, “If You are willing, You are able to make me clean.” 41. Moved with compassion [for his suffering], Jesus reached out with His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be clean! And at once the leprosy [completely] left him and he was made clean [by being healed]." 10 SECRETS ABOUT THE LEPER 1. Humility will always grant you access to those who would help you. The Leper was humble .1 Peter 5:6))"Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you," 2. The key to receiving, is believing. See The Good Only

He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD (Psalm 33:5). Some people are always fishing for the wrong things; they never see good in anything or anywhere. They know all the bad things happening around, and are prompt to spread gossip, falsehood and negative information. Such people end up twisted in life, because they never see or celebrate the good in anything. Whereas, there’re those who always think and care about the good; they see good in everything. No matter what it is, they only look out for, and celebrate the good. They’re forever “good-conscious”; not because they’re naïve, but because of the excellence of their personality. That’s how God expects you to live. The Bible says the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord; that’s all you should see—only good things. People who peddle rumours and bad news, and only see the negative side of everything can’t make much progress in life. Their values keep depreciating, an

The Idolatry of People-Pleasing

The Idolatry of People-Pleasing What if I'm more afraid to displease important people than God? Written by GodLife on 13/09/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Relationships, Influence, Submission, Idolatry So now run away to your place. I said I would give you much honor, but the Lord has kept you from honor. Numbers 24:11 A story in the Bible's book of Numbers shows how dangerous the desire to “please men” can be (Colossians 3:22). This story is mentioned a lot in the Bible. Each mention comes with a warning. God wants us to take note: what can this story teach us about ourselves? 1. It is Dangerous To Look For God’s Permission And Not His Approval Fearing Israel, King Balak sent for the prophet Balaam. God told Balaam not to go. King Balak persisted, so Balaam asked God again. God seemed persuaded: he gave Balaam permission to go. On his journey, the donkey he was riding was blocked by an angel with a drawn sword. The donkey refused to keep going, angering B

Let Christ Be Manifested In You

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). The greatest thing that could ever happen to you isn’t only to have and know Jesus Christ, but to also have Him manifested in your life. If you’re sick in your body today, what you need is the manifestation of Christ in that part of your body. The Bible says, “… For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). When He’s manifested in your life, everything that’s not of God will give way. When Christ is manifested in the life of a sinner, the power of sin is broken, and righteousness takes effect. When He’s manifested in the life of one that’s bound, the chains are broken, and deliverance takes place. Christ is the answer. Christ is all you need. Christ is everything. Christ in you is the hope of glory. Let Him be manifested in you—spirit, soul, and body.

Move From Believing To Faith

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed (1 Peter 2:24) Some Christians find themselves having a conflict between what the Word says and their actual experience. For example, they’ve read and believed our opening verse, yet they’ve battled one ailment after the other and now they’re asking, “What am I supposed to do that I’m not doing?” A dear lady asked me a similar question, drawing attention to 2 Corinthians 8:9 that says Jesus was made poor that we might be made rich. Then she asked, “If this is true, how come so many Christians are still poor?” She wanted to know what could be done to make that scripture real in their lives. Here’s what you need to know: When you were born again, you were brought into a life of absolute prosperity, absolute health, strength and victory; it’s been done already. Whether or not you’re enjoying it is your responsibility. The

Learn To Take Responsibility

Image
Most of us don't want to take responsiblity for our actions and problems. It's always someone else or the world, but never us.I'v heard some people say that they need someone to give them responsibility,"what they really are saying is that they need someone to tell them what to do. But the truth is that no one will give you responsibility;it's up to you to become responsible by yourself. Become responsible by looking out for a need and reaching out to meet that need. That is a principle of success. There are people who complain about situations they could actually do something about,if only they would take some responsibility.See the opportunity to help out where you can, it will make you a better person and will show you some responsibility. Learn to be responsible in church,at home,in school and at work.Have the ability to respond when there's a need, cause no one might. If you are a young person living with your parents, make up your mind that your impact wou

No Lack Or Want

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).  Paul understood the message of the new creation; notice that he didn’t say, “My God shall supply all our need….” He knew that the new creation isn’t in lack or want; the new creation doesn’t need to be “supplied”; he’s the supplier! Romans 8:17 says we’re heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ. Paul, with this understanding, said to the spiritually immature, “But my God shall supply all your need….” When you’ve come of age, you’ll realize that in Christ, we don’t have any unmet needs. Matthew 6:33 says, “…seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” When you seek the Kingdom of God first, every good thing you could ever wish for would be added to your life, without you having to ask. You won’t need to try to be happy, fulfilled or triumphant in life; you won’t need to pursue the things that the Gent

Christ is our life.

Scripture: “Christ is our life. When He comes again, you will also be with Him to share His shining-greatness.”  (Colossians 3:4) Do you know that Jesus wants to be more than just your Savior? We say God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. Is the plan just taking you to heaven when you die? No, Christ is our life. That means now and for eternity.

The meaning of Jesus’ name, (“Yeshua” in Hebrew,) is to deliver or rescue. Jesus is our Savior.

Jesus Delivers Us The meaning of Jesus’ name, (“Yeshua” in Hebrew,) is to deliver or rescue. Jesus is our Savior. Written by Lois on 06/09/2016 Series: Weekly Devotional Tags: Rescue, Jesus, Refugee My eyes are always on the Lord, he rescues me from the traps of my enemies. Psalm 25:15 Recently, a Bible teacher asked… “do you want Jesus to deliver you out of the place that brings you suffering?” Sometimes a broken heart, financial trouble or addiction keeps us away from God. Only the grace of Jesus can make us whole in every situation and carries us through it. When King David cried out to God in Psalm 25:16-18, he said, “Turn to me and have mercy, for I am alone and in deep distress. My problems go from bad to worse. Oh, save me from them all! Feel my pain and see my trouble. Forgive all my sins.” With King David’s prayer in mind, let’s explore how God has the power to set us free from from our troubles and how to look to Jesus to deliver us: First, How Can You Be Del

Maintain Your Confession Of The Word

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned…(Isaiah 43:2). When you study God’s Word, the economic problems and upheavals in the world today wouldn’t be a surprise to you. The socio-economic conditions in our world today must not dictate the circumstances of our existence. They must not control our faith in the Word of God. The Bible says those who know their God shall be strong and shall do exploits (Daniel 11:32). As a child of God, the troubles in the world are not set against you. Your prosperity is independent of inflation, economic meltdowns and downturns. You’re not of this world. You’re the seed of Abraham. Refuse to fret or be anxious, for if you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small (Proverbs 24:10). The Lord is your strength. Remain strong in Him and in the power of His might. Read what He says about you in the

Beware Of Evil Communication

Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners (1 Corinthians 15:33). Through the Word of God we’re trained and cultured with good manners and godly behaviour, but some people can corrupt your good character through their unwholesome and perverse communication. Evil communication corrupts good manners. Any communication that negates, rejects or challenges the authority of God’s Word is an evil communication. Therefore, beware of such. The Bible says, “He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20). Psalm 1:1 says, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” The wrong company can influence you to do the wrong things. For instance, the Bible says, “Show respect to the aged; honour the presence of an elder…” (Leviti cus 19:32 MSG). Ephesians 6:2 says, “Honour your father and mother.” Imagine that yo
